Company Visit Invitation
If your company is looking for opportunities to contribute to nurturing young IT and creative media talents, join the Jockey Club Multiple Pathways Initiative – CLAP-TECH Pathway, Hong Kong’s first through-train VPET (Vocational, Professional Education & Training) pathway in mainstream secondary and post-secondary education. CLAP-TECH Pathway is looking for companies to join their mission of providing secondary and post-secondary students with meaningful workplace learning opportunities.

About CLAP-TECH Pathway
Convened and funded by The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust, the CLAP-TECH Pathway is a tripartite collaboration among three parties – Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU), industry partners and secondary schools, connecting their education-to-employment (E-to-E) pathway. This pathway is incorporated into the formal education system in Hong Kong. Students of CLAP-TECH Pathway went through a non-conventional mode of learning at schools, which equipped them with practical skills and workplace experiences for high demand jobs in future. Students enrolled in CLAP-TECH Pathway earned their qualifications awarded by HKBU in five years: three years of senior secondary school through an Applied Learning course and two years of a higher diploma programme.

Being Hong Kong’s first through-train Vocational and Professional Education and Training (VPET) pathway in mainstream senior secondary and post-secondary education, the CLAP-TECH Pathway kicked off its first track in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in 2019, and subsequently a second track in Creative Technology and Innovation (CTI) in 2021. Over the course of the last 6 years, the project has serviced more than 1,400 students from 90+ secondary schools in Hong Kong, supported by 40+ major employers and 360+ mentors. As of summer 2024, 290 students from the first three ICT cohorts and 98 students from the first Creative Media cohort had completed the CLAP-TECH Pathway, with promising outcomes. According to the programme evaluation, 90% of the graduates (vs. 69% of their non-participating peers) indicated that they had made informed decisions about their future and were able to pursue diverse options like employment or further studies based on their interests and aptitudes. Also, it was found that 92% of creative media graduates felt confident in career exploration, compared to 68% in the control group. Moreover, creative media graduates were significantly more confident than control groups in workplace skills including analytical thinking (94% vs. 77%), collaboration (100% vs. 84%), resilience (92% vs. 73%), and self-management (92% vs. 68%), while ICT graduates also demonstrated stronger self-confidence in motivation, responsibility, and collaboration. These serves as compelling evidence that CLAP-TECH’s pilot model equips students with vital workforce skills and empowers informed career decisions, effectively reducing manpower mismatches and bolstering Hong Kong’s long-term productivity and economic engagement, thus strengthening its future.

Piloting AI is just the beginning – true transformation happens when AI scales across the business, securely. However scaling AI presents a myriad of challenges. Technically, issues such as data inconsistencies, inadequate infrastructure, integration complexities with existing systems and Cyber Security can pose significant challenges. Organizationally, resistance to change, skills gaps, and misalignment between AI goals and business objectives can impede widespread adoption. As CIOs and CISOs look to expand their Businesses’ AI capabilities securely, understanding the potential challenges is crucial for successful implementation.

Carrying the theme of “Scaling AI to Next Level, Securely: From Pilots to Enterprise-Wide Adoption”, the Summit this year aims to address common challenges and share real-world AI implementation cases, and equip CIOs with a roadmap for embedding AI into businesses and turn AI from a technical initiative into a business-wide advantage.
