Managing Your Business Continuity Planning Project(07-Apr-2005) |
The BIGGEST TRAP that a BCP Project Manager can fall into is ... to think that simply having a good BCP project plan is all there is to it. It needs to be managed well. The BCP project plan is a "living" document. Like the human skeleton, it gives form, substance and strength, but it does not hinder movement. It is only a tool, which, in the hands of a skilled professional, will help produce a quality business continuity plan, satisfying the requirement, on time and within budget.
There is no substitute for success. Failing to meet expectations, no matter how well rationalized, is not an acceptable course of action for anyone wishing to pursue a career in BCP. The BCP Project Manager must make every effort to ensure that none of the obstacles get beyond his or her control.
